No one should live without a roof over their head. Sadly, thousands of people in Lebanon live without safe shelter due to conflict, economic crises, and natural disasters. At Asia Charity, we believe that shelter is not just about walls and a roof — it is the foundation of dignity, stability, and hope. Through our emergency shelter programs, we offer immediate, temporary solutions that create lasting impact in the lives of those we serve.
Stories from the Field: From the Street to Safety
In Beirut, we met Sami, a father of two who lost his home after being evicted due to unpaid rent. He was living in his car, completely helpless. Through our temporary shelter program, we provided him with a safe place to stay and basic needs like bedding, water, and heating. Within weeks, Sami secured a stable job and his children returned to school. “I hadn’t slept peacefully in months,” he told us. “That first night in the shelter changed everything.”
Like Sami, hundreds of families lose everything and struggle to find a place that preserves their dignity. We work tirelessly to identify such cases and deliver shelter solutions as quickly as possible.
The Importance of Shelter During Crisis
During a crisis, shelter is often the first step toward recovery. Sleeping in unsafe conditions exposes people to violence, malnutrition, and serious mental and physical health risks. That’s why we don’t just provide a place to sleep — we aim to create a humane environment that offers safety, comfort, and belonging.
In many of our projects, we supply families with essentials like blankets, heaters, cooking supplies, and hygiene kits. We also offer psychological and social support, especially for women and children who are most affected by displacement.
Local Partnerships Make a Difference
We don’t work alone. In collaboration with municipalities, grassroots organizations, and government bodies, we identify the most urgent needs, coordinate logistics, and deliver appropriate housing and services. These partnerships ensure that support reaches the right people, at the right time, with transparency and care.
In one of our recent projects in the Bekaa region, we renovated an abandoned building and transformed it into a temporary housing center for 35 families. We equipped the rooms with essentials, set up a shared kitchen, and provided mental health services for children. Today, most of these families have transitioned into more stable housing through long-term support programs.
Long-Term Impact from a Temporary Start
Although our shelters are designed to be temporary, their impact often lasts a lifetime. A safe place to rest allows people to regroup, plan for the future, and access jobs, education, or psychosocial support.
Some families we’ve supported have since rented permanent homes, while others have started small businesses with our help. Every success story begins with a first step — and that step often starts with a place to sleep.
How You Can Help
A simple donation can provide a warm room for a family with nowhere to go. A single blanket can give a child a safe night’s sleep. And your contribution could be the beginning of a new life for someone in desperate need. We need your support to continue this mission.
Donate and help us provide shelter for those without one. Together, we can turn a temporary shelter into the first step toward a safer, more stable future.
